Hi, I'm Abby Korman! I love working with business owners in the beauty and wellness industry. You make your customers feel and look their very best every day - don't your finances deserve the same?

A little background on me, before diving into the bookkeeping world I was an engineer for nearly 10 years. Bookkeeping fell right in line with the level of detail I was used to! As a mom of two boys, I wanted to find a career that allowed me be to an available & flexible mom while rocking it as a business owner!

If I had to guess, you and I aren’t too different. We started our own businesses because we found ourselves craving the time to get back into our creative sides on our own time! If you find you are losing sight of the reason you started your business and are drained each day because you are spending too much time on the day-to-day financial details, then it is time to leave the bookkeeping to me. You can focus on what you do best - making your customers look and feel incredible!

The word "budget" makes me absolutely cringe! Anyone else?

When I hear "you need to budget" I immediately feel I need to be on the defense and that I did something wrong. Let me be the first to tell you - you are doing NOTHING wrong! As the owner of a business, you make decisions and you should be proud of those decisions! I mean look at you! You own a business!!

Truth is, as humans, we tend to spend
With profit first it help curb those human tendencies. So instead of "budget" (it's as bad as "diet" 😵‍💫) let's call it planned spending!

Beauty & Wellness owners: budget for that retail inventory!

Yes, full shelves of retail are beautiful, and your OCD organization might kick in, making you think you need to always have full shelves, but stop yourself before buying and check your budget!

Setting a budget for retail on data rather than the aesthetic of the display can save you money!

If the extra space really bothers you, you can always add a fun photo or plant to your shelf to fill in open spaces!

I went into my living room to record a video because I was short on time and like the lighting in there... saw the mess (even more not shown on camera) and thought "shoot I need to clean up first." Then I took a deep breath and said nope! It is what it is! 🤷

Our lives and especially play areas can be messy! But our financial understanding of our businesses doesn't have to be!

Keep up with your reports, and I promise you will feel more confident and ready to grow your business.

Understanding your business financials doesn't have to be complicated but you don't know what you don't know!

Read through these to get a general summary of information each report can give you. If you have ANY questions, never hesitate to reach out!

Remember: any report is only as accurate as the data it looks at!

Shout out to anyone who counts how many times I say "best" in this reel! 🫠

But for real, this is a good one! We need to understand the first part of the year to really make the most of the 2nd half!

I speak about it being less overwhelming now than if you look at your bookkeeping at the end of the year.. To clarify, even if you get everything organized now, you will still have to do the same for the 2nd half of the year. But looking at bookkeeping in chunks of 6 months is way easier than looking at all 12. Ideally, you do this every month, especially if you file quarterly taxes! But if you don't outsource a bookkeeper, that can be easier said than done!
